NHS Reaside
NHS Reaside
JRA Fire Safety Advisors were commissioned to undertake a comprehensive fire compartmentation and passive fire protection survey at NHS Reaside Clinic, a specialist mental health facility operating within a secure healthcare environment. The commission required a detailed and structured assessment of fire-resisting construction to support the building’s life safety strategy and ongoing statutory compliance.
The scope of works delivered by JRA Fire Safety Advisors included a site-wide review of compartmentation arrangements, protected shafts, service risers, ceiling voids, and fire-stopping provisions, undertaken in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant healthcare fire safety guidance. The survey was designed to establish a clear and accurate understanding of how fire-resisting construction is configured across the premises and how it supports the intended evacuation philosophy.
Given the complexity and operational sensitivity of the healthcare setting, JRA Fire Safety Advisors adopted a methodical, proportionate, and professionally robust approach. Findings were documented in a detailed technical report, supported by clear plans and schedules, providing the Trust with a defensible evidence base to inform fire safety management, future investment planning, and regulatory engagement.
This project demonstrates JRA Fire Safety Advisors’ experience in delivering specialist fire safety surveys within complex healthcare environments, where occupant vulnerability, continuity of care, and operational constraints demand a high level of technical competence, discretion, and professionalism.
